This dialog handles optimization coordinate systems which are actually used in FEA and optimization procedures. At model import, a default coordinate system is added as the first entry into the list of these systems. After that, the imported coordinate systems are used to further populate this list. Later on, the optimization systems can be edited and their list can be expanded by further custom coordinate systems as needed.

In ProTOp the custom coordinate systems are needed in defining:

• configurators for the optimization domain and
• technological constraints.

A world coordinate system or WCS is a built-in coordinate system; it is always available and does not need to be defined.

To add and define a new custom coordinate system ...

1. Either

• click the Add new item toolbar button, or
• hold down the Alt key and use the left mouse button (Alt key + LMB) to click the node which will be the origin of the newly added coordinate system.

2. Enter the name of the system.

3. Select the type of the system: cartesian, cylindrical, or spherical.

4. Optionally transform the system as desired.
