During preparing and running and optimization job, it is often useful to review and discuss various issues encountered in intermediate results. For this purpose it is beneficial to have a possibility to export and save for review any intermediate state related to

of the part under consideration. In ProTOp this can be done by using the Save to XOBJ file ... command. This command is available from the

Figure. Intermediate results can be saved by using the command available in the graphics window toolbar.

Note that the graphics window toolbar command is available even if any tool dialog is currently open.

Saving an intermediate result

To save any state displayed in the main graphics window, follow the procedure below:

  1. Make sure the main graphics window displays exactly what needs to be exported (geometry and optionally any response field).
  2. Select the Save to XOBJ file ... command and follow the file save dialog procedure.

The intermediate result is saved in an internal XOBJ file format. An XOBJ file can be saved either in

The compressed form is the recommended one since compressed files are typically around 4x smaller than the uncompressed ones.

Viewing an intermediate result

To view an intermediate result, follow the procedure below:

  1. Select the Run XOBJ viewer ... command either from the Home ribbon or from the graphics window toolbar; this command runs the CAESS ProTOpFieldViewer application.
  2. In ProTOpFieldViewer select the Open ... command and follow the file open dialog procedure.

Note that CAESS ProTOpFieldViewer application is freeware and can be royalty-free used and distributed by anyone.
